Welcome to File Under Maybe!
Learning to lead through the unpredictable
Hi, I’m Shellie. I’ve built a career helping people and organizations manage risk, navigate uncertainty, and keep projects moving when conditions are unpredictable. I work at the intersection of learning, leadership, and complexity, and I’ve always been drawn to questions around what it really takes to stay steady when everything around you is shifting.
This year I began my doctoral journey in learning science. It’s pushed me to think more deeply about how people learn and how we make decisions under pressure. This space is where I share what I’m learning, both through research and lived experience. It’s also where I’m developing ideas that will be part of my upcoming book, Naming Risk, Changing Culture, coming this fall.
In my writing, you’ll find
• Practical strategies for managing projects and crises
• Thoughtful takes on leadership in complex environments
• Field notes from real-world consulting work
• Insights from learning theory and how it applies in practice
• Reflections on navigating both personal and professional growth
• Lessons chronic illness has taught me about resilience and sustainability
Some posts focus on tools and strategies. Others are more like journal entries. My goal is to keep it useful and grounded. Whether you’re leading a team, building something new, or just trying to stay steady in uncertain times, I hope you’ll find something here that helps.
If you’d like to go deeper, paid subscribers get in-depth essays, clear solutions to tricky challenges, behind-the-scenes reflections from consulting and research, early access to projects in progress. And a copy of my upcoming book when it launches.
Thanks for being here. I’m glad you found your way in.
Shellie

Great to read you on here
Sometimes I swear the people I’ve lost would laugh at the random things that trigger a memory, if only they’re still hanging around making inside jokes with me.
